The Great Austen Adventure Review

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

What a wonderful way to start 2023! This was my first read of the year ☺️ After reading the book, I definitely feel that Tomi is a kindred spirit! She just gets me. Lol. I loved the book and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Italy! This is my first review so I hope I do this wonderful book justice!

“Are all Italian men so generous and considerate? I thought they only existed on the pages of my Regency novels. I should’ve come to Italy sooner.”

Things I adored:

🇮🇹 The Italian Setting

🏹 The Jane Austen References

❤️ The Meet Cute

☺️ Lorenzo’s Blushing

🚣 The Kayaking Lesson

💋 The First Kiss (Swoon)

🌊 The Mesmerizing Caves

🍿 Lorenzo Binging P & P 😂

🛟 All of Lorenzo’s Rescues

📖 The Book Gift

⛲️2 coins in the Trevi

Set in Italy this book is the perfect escape. From the charms of the Cinque Terre to the beauty of Florence and Rome, this novel captured my heart. The main character, Sabrina, is so relatable and you instantly connect with her. It’s easy to place yourself in her shoes after she gets fired from her job and decides to take a break from her life. And what better place to do that than Italy?

I absolutely loved Sabrina’s stream of consciousness. This book had me laughing out loud. After she met Lorenzo, there was more than one occasion when she thought that reality had become something straight out of a Jane Austen novel and I loved it!!! The Jane Austen references were witty and added so much to the novel! As a huge Jane Austen fan myself, I thought they were perfect and there was just the right amount! If you love Jane Austen you are definitely in for a treat with this novel! The book is wholesome and clean, but the romance is done so right! The first kiss had me absolutely swooning. It has been a while since I’ve swooned like that while reading a novel! And I loved that it was all done in a sweet manner. As someone who loves history, I also appreciate all the care that was put into this book. The research was so well done and I loved learning about the different areas in the novel! This book is a gem. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a cup of tea, cozy up with a blanket, and enjoy the read! It’s so good, you won’t want it to end :) I certainly wanted my time in Italy to continue for as long as possible!

This was my first book by this author and it certainly won’t be my last! I can’t wait to check out her other books!

”I’ll never understand why you’re an Austen addict.” “Five words, Mags . . . Colin. Firth. Wet. Shirt. Scene.”
